The 10th World Hindi Conference was held from the 10th to 12th of September in Bhopal, India. The Conference is a global ‘coming together’ of Hindi Dignitaries, Academics and Professionals to discuss, disseminate and network on pertinent issues regarding the Hindi language. It is a very dignified and prominent event which is organised by the Indian government once in every 3 to 4 years for this purpose.
The Hindi Shiksha Sangh was represented at the Conference by its President, Mrs. Mala Ramballi, and Vice President, Professor Usha Devi Shukla who is also the Academic Head. During the Conference, Prof. Shukla was awarded the prestigious Vishwa Hindi Samman Award by the Government of India in recognition of her outstanding lifelong contribution to the promotion and propagation of the Hindi language in South Africa.
The Hindi Shiksha Sangh would like to congratulate Prof. Shukla on yet another sterling achievement in her long list of excellent accomplishments which spans a distinguished career devoted to the Hindi language. It is due to the endeavours of luminaries such as Prof. Shukla that Indian languages are kept alive and strong in South Africa.
